As an employee of a stevedoring company or marine terminal, you will supervise the loading and unloading of ships at the dock. You will coordinate the work of the Long Shoremen and liaise with the Officers in charge on the ship.
You will also have to prepare various documents to ensure the proper functioning of operations. Additionally, you will be asked to assess the equipment and labour needs required for operations and to manage the costs related to those operations.
Lastly, you will play a role in ensuring the health and safety of the team members by keeping a close eye on the work sites.

In addition to having lots of availability, you'll need to have excellent interpersonal skills as you'll be required to work as a team at all times. You can also become a Ship/Port Superintendent if you have experience supervising work teams, especially in the fields of forestry, agriculture, manufacturing or construction.
